Since our last update in the fall, plenty of progress has been made on construction projects throughout the District. In particular, the Glenrose Phase 3, along with the spillway, underwent considerable upgrades and is now complete. Improvements on ‘C’ Canal continued, from Highway 21 to RR 264.
Now looking ahead to this spring and summer, key focus areas are the Strangmuir Phase 3 & 4, south of Highway 901 in Division 3. Work also continues on the Cooperative Stormwater Management Initiative.
“Overall, our infrastructure schedule is accelerated dramatically, we’re condensing 20 years of work into five,” explains Sean Mascaluk, the WID’s new General Manager. “It’s going very well as we head into year two. We’ll see significant efficiencies for water usage and reduced seepage, which means there is more water available for irrigators.”
