WHO WE ARE

For more than 75 years, the Western Irrigation District has managed the delivery of raw water to irrigators and communities east of Calgary.

When the WID took the reins of the Western Block from the Canadian Pacific Irrigation Department in 1944, we inherited more than just land and infrastructure. The momentum of innovation and vision continues today with strategic growth and sustainability as one of Alberta’s 13 irrigation districts.

There is a Board of Directors with five elected members who oversee the administration of the WID.

Water users may contact their Board member regarding issues or concerns with the overall running of the District by calling 403-934-3542.

Mission Statement

Effective and efficiently provide water to support our industry, enhance our communities, and promote economic prosperity for the region in harmony with our natural environment.
